18 Apr 1958: 1/Lt. Roy J. Blakeley was promoted to Captain and began training operations in the North American F-100 Super Sabre with the 480th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 366th Fighter-Bomber Wing.

01 Jul 1958: The 480th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 366th Fighter-Bomber Wing was re-designated as the 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 366th Tactical Fighter Wing. The squadron entered a continuous program of training exercises, including long-distance refueling, navigation, and low-level bombing missions.
